smell is always gonna be your cabin air filter. its on the passenger side foot area under your glove box. change it its like 20 bucks. if your not getting the cool you want then there cant be enough freon in your system. checked out by Honda Techs and they agree it is only about 60% as cool as it should be.

If no AC button is highlighted in the climate controls, it means AC is on AUTO. Yes, it's on AUTO, and it will turn on or off as it sees fit, no matter what you imagine.
