When I watched Dayton's seasons, I felt like she didn't seem very personally invested in being a DCC. I remember when she was introduced in her first season (when she didn't make it into TC), she said that she had never really wanted to audition but decided to do so on a whim that year (as opposed to VK, who seems like she wanted to be a DCC since she learned to walk).
