It's recoil is more than the AR15 but seems way less than that of a bolt action. I ended up putting the Sig tango on it and have liked it very much.

The difference between 18" & 16" is probably going to be negligible for hunting/plinking. I wouldn't even worry about it. I would absolutely pay the extra for the Sig.
